Thailand Film Office Promotes 2017 Cash Incentives of 15%-20% for film productions in Thailand
Targeting global film and entertainment markets, The Thai Film Office is travelling the world to push Thailand’s upcoming incentives program for large film productions in Thailand (which we previously discussed here) which will provide 15% up to 20% cash back incentives to foreign production companies shooting in Thailand.
The Thai Film office has presented the new program at 2 of the biggest film industry events in the world, namely the American Film Market and Conferences (AFM) event in Santa Monica, USA and the FOCUS 2016 event, taking place in London.
The Thailan Film Office was founded to provide an efficient one-stop solution for film productions wanting to shoot in Thailand and one of its many beautiful and exciting locations.
The eagerly awaited American Film Market and Conferences (AFM) event took place in Santa Monica in Hollywood’s backyard on the 2.11.2016 and the Thai Fim Office was an exhibitor in the Atrium meeting with over 150 companies that were interested in shooting in Thailand in the coming year.
There was a “Thailand Film Incentive Reception” chaired by the Director-General of the Department of Tourism at “Ocean & Vine Restaurant” at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel and the Thailand Film Office welcomed guests who arrived via pre-invitation or invitation from the Booth. It will be interesting to see how much of a boos this new program will give to Thailand in 2017 but the interest of the incentives was big among production companies and film makers.
FOCUS 2016, the biggest UK event for the film industry and one of the most important in the world took place on December 6th attracting top delegates from over 40 countries.
Wannasiri Morakul, Director-General of the Thailand Film Office had this to say:
“These two large-scale film industry events in North America and Europe provide us with double the opportunities to bring the Thailand Film Office to the world of film in an efficient manner in superb roadshow settings. We have two incredible events to present our amazing new cash incentive program to world film industry award winners and headline makers”.
“In 2015, income from foreign productions was valued at a record $88 million USD. So far in 2016, this figures has reached 1,519 million Baht. This is further proof that Thailand offers majestic locations, state of the art film production capabilities, key industry professionals and the finest equipment and post-production services for every need from big film productions to television, advertising, corporate and documentary making.”
