Sharp photos, true colors
Product photos need to be crisp and show colors as they really are. If a product looks different when it arrives, you get returns and complaints.
Post-production makes a big difference. We correct colors and retouch details, which matters most for things like jewelry, where stones only look sharp after retouching. Decide early how much post-processing you want.
On white, or on a model?
Products can be shown on their own, cut out on a white or grey background, or worn and held by models. Most fashion brands with the budget use models today.
Which one sells better for your shop is something only testing shows. Many shops start with clean packshots and add model shots later.
Add video while you’re shooting
A short product video shows how something works, or how it moves when it’s worn, and it builds trust. Many fashion shops now show each item on a model in a short clip.
Adding product videos during the photo shoot costs little extra. Filming them later means a second shoot, so decide at the start.
How many shots per product?
Think about the angles, the sides and the details a customer needs to see. For fashion, the back matters as much as the front.
Each color of a product can be photographed, or one color can be shot and the others made in retouching. Sometimes one front shot is enough; fashion almost always needs more.
